My first restoration project, a prussian M1895 Kugelhelm

This one came to me in quite rough condition but all parts were included and the price was most certainly right. This was the project that really made me enjoy repairing these helmets. Let me know what yall think of the repair.:)

Looks fine! Good for another 100 years! What repairs did you have to make? I see the rear visor restitch and the front visor Brad install. The front plate has some nice gilt remaining. Always nice to have an original chin strap.

First I had to replace what was retaining the wappen which was a pair of twist ties so I removed the twist ties and replaced them with a pair of leather wedges. Then I had to clean the inside and outside of the helmet. The outside was covered in a sticky oily mess when I got it and the inside was full of crusty mud. I was hoping to maybe find some stamps or unit markings on the inside but I had no luck. Then I reshaped the shell which after cleaning I added moisture back into the shell then put the helmet on a 56cm hat mold for about 2 weeks which got it back into shape.
