My purchases at SOS 25 were limited, I did by a scrapper M15 Prussian (crushed top, red rot liner) from Alan S on my way out the door on Sat afternoon! Thanks again Alan, but other than that only 2 primary pieces (wappen) for my collection. I was more interested in selling things which I had brought with me from CN.

The first obviously a Baden Landwehr OR's wappen. For our newer collectors....the state motto is on the brass cross not the wappen ribbon. The nickel plated (neusilber) wappen shows that the battalion or regiment that this comes from wore silver buttons prior to 1910. This may have come off a Pioneer (PB 14) or Dragoner (D 20,21,22) Baden helmet. Again, for our new collectors, the Cross is always in a contrasting metal.....brass for nickel plate and nickel for brass wappen.

The reverse shows us the 2 prong cross attachment with screw posts and nuts. Screw posts indicates this was made for an older model helmet, pre 1895. The use of brass nuts also shows pre war assembly.

My second wappen: A cupro aluminium Prussian Landwehr OR's. I have an affinity for these, as I just love the rich red gold colour. It reminds me of the 22-24K gold favoured by people from India. Again, a contrasting Lw cross and no bandeau ribbon.
The reverse shows us the more modern soldered loops, the cross imprint into the eagle's chest and the 4 solder drops. This is an issued wappen solely designed for the Landwehr. Note Bene: The form of measurements shown are in Centimetres. In time, I also intend to do a post on both Landwehr and Reservist wappen from my collection.
