My SOS Finds

I had a GREAT SOS. I bought four helmets, a few caps and a small library of books. Among the helmets was a Japanese Naval Landing Force sun helmet, a German Kriegsmarine sun helmet and an Italian M28 wicker made helmet.

But of the pre-WWI era items, I did find a Spanish sun helmet circa Spanish-American War. I also bought a nice Fusiliers raccoon skin cap and while it is later I wanted to show off the Indian army turban.

We tried to get Peter to pose with the last one for a photo for the forum, but he would not.

Nice!

Could we see a photo of the Spanish helmet? I'm starting to get some US Wisconsin/Michigan items from the Spanish American War, but I have not seen any Spanish items :)

Would love to see it

Hey Chris,
try this link, and scroll down, there is a photo of the pith helmet, it is in Bill Comb's collection.

Hi Chris--
The top helmet is actually Spanish. Compare it to the American sun helmets and you can see the Spanish is six panels while American helmets are four panel.

Excellent headgear, Peter! Thanks for sharing the pics with us! Congrats on the new finds! :thumbright:

Best Wishes,
