I got this cap as part of a trade deal years ago. It's rough field grey cloth with a vulcan fibre (?) visor, and most strangely, a yellow-ish lower band. I've checked the interior closely and there appears to be no sign of tampering (been through that movie!). It's got a chinstrap and cockades that I've checked and all seems to be legit. My thought, as this is obviously late war production, that perhaps the red dye used on the main band had washed out- yet the piping on top hasn't faded. There is a microscopic trace of red in the band stitching yet not under the cockades or chinstrap. I have no idea what this is...post war put together? Anyway, doesn't matter, just curious. Maybe I'll find a wide camo band and simply cover it up. Opinions?
