NATIONAL COCKADE

Gentlemen,
I am looking for a National Cockade (along with a Baden Cockade) to complete my M15 Pickelhaube and would like your opinion on this item for sale on ebay. Is it original or a repro, is it in decent shape and is it correct for my pickelhaube? Is the seller from Italy known within the collecting community and does he he have a good reputation? His feedback scores are good but that doesn't always tell the whole story.

Thank you,
Ricardo

Welcome to the forum Fox!. Bury it in your garden for a little while. – maybe that is how they added age. I

Joe,
Yes, it looks like the seller might have even added a little blood for effect to go with the rust. He never answered my questions as to whether it was a repro. His feedback is good though. Maybe it was all from people who didn't know/didn't care or perhaps were looking for repros.

V/R,
Ricardo

The seller in Italy just answered my question about whether or not the cockade is original. He claims that it is.
I am happy that I have the years of experience from the members of this forum to rely upon or else this hobby could qucikly turn into an expensive disaster. What was the the tell tale sign(s)?

Thank you,
Ricardo

Ricardo,

Look at the inside ring of the cockcade. The paint is all there and looks fresh. This doesn't match up with the rust spots you see on the rest of the cockade.
