Need help with 2 Pickelhauben

With pleasure:

This winter, when I have a bit more time, I'll try to reproduce the same 2 guides here on this forum.
Oh, I never thought id ever say it, but it's a shame I don't speak french

There have been many occasions in my life where I have been thankful that I was forced to learn French in High School here in Canada :)After HS my learning of French involved reading the French on cereal boxes and other grocery labels but I did make progress!
Regarding the Wurttemberg helmet which I recommended buying and the discussion here, I believe that we are also dealing with the "geographic factor" of where the collector lives. If I was European then obviously, there should be far more helmets available for sale and I could hold out for a "complete one". I do not have this luxury in Canada.....there is no town/village here where FR 122 fought so that I can pick up a helmet locally :( and save money. After 40+ years of collecting, I have one M15 Wurttemberg helmet and an M95 marked to JR 126, dated 1896. Consequently, I would buy this FR 122 helmet in "a New York minute"....Very Quickly! 👍

And so would I Brian. If I had the money at the moment it would have gone very fast, then again I don't at the moment.
Happy to have at least a very nice M15 Wurttemberg in my collection, with some provenance too!

For me, the photos of Württemberg are insufficient. To buy a helmet based on a photo, you need a photo of the front, a photo of each side, a photo of the back and the underside. Here, the sides and back are missing.
On French forums, this helmet can be bought for €500 by a collector living in a town where the FR122 fought, with this helmet (between 1914 and 1915). Battle in front of Longwy (Meurthe et Moselle in France) on 20 August 14. This collector will be able exceptionally to make the effort at 600€ but will not go beyond, because it will be necessary to add at least 400~500€ to supplement it, and that is tedious.
But I posted a pic of the back, atleast I thought I did.
Also do you know the name of the collector?
And would I need to speak French or use a translator for that?

I actually live in the state where the Regiment originates from and near a city where it was garrisoned for a while, but I don't know where to look for pickelhauben aside from ebay, I'm unsure now again tho if I should get it or not xd
But I suppose that even if I won't buy this one that I will be able to get another one at some point, I just need some trusted places where to look I suppose

En fait, je vis dans l'État d'origine du régiment et à proximité d'une ville où il était en garnison pendant un certain temps, mais je ne sais pas où chercher
I live in Lorraine (formerly Reichsland), so not very far from Stuttgart. In Germany there are regular auctions of spiked helmets. (ex Jan Kube...) In France (Soissons, Orléans, Tours etc...) there are auction rooms where spiked helmets are sold. You can bid live from home.

Oh yea that really shouldn't even be that far away, I will try to look out for some auctions

Here is a good place to look they are very respected, and they always have a fine selection

Ohhhh I can definitely see why they are respected, I'll try to look something for there maybe, and I'll try to look on some French sites, if I can't find smth cheaper tho I might go for the Württemberg in the pictures I sent

I don't think that Kube has online auctions. Unless he has changed?

The FR122 helmet of the ebay Kleinanzeigen is now sold 😄 I saw it too.
I would have not bought it, as Clovis. Too expensive without chinstrap and cockades and only regimental stamp without any Bataillon or Kompanie stamps or date or even name of wearer that is for me always a big base to start research. And the optical condition of this helmet is not the best. You can find much better if you are patient...

I prefer them complete, salty, sleepy and untouched, as this named example of the 2/JR125, dated 1914, picked up on the Somme battlefield and left as is. Worn by Kriegsfreiwilliger Anton Bickel who promoted to Vizefeldwebel, KIA on the 18.8.16 at Delville Wood...
