The pickelhaube was made out of leather, with metal reinforcement and a metal spike. It went through a number of modifications, such as the introduction of a round visor and the replacement of the rear spine.

I have a copy, have looked through it, will attempt to write a review sometime this weekend. It is a book of photographs from the time. I would not run out of the house to buy this. Most of the pictures are old hat to experienced collectors with the exception of the colonial pictures. There are a few nice ones and given the price of postcards today perhaps it is well worth the price?!?! More to follow just don't get impulsive on this. I'm off to watch survivor!
