I just acquired a nice Italian Benaglia Rifle grenade, this is a nice example with fins that are in very good condition, many of these grenades have either badly pitted or no fins, so I am rather happy with this one.

Here is the grenade ready to stick down the bore of a Carcano

And here ist is apart showing all the bits.
Best wishes

I forgot to mention, this design was enlarged and used with morters, much like the British toffee apple bomb.

Congratulations, Gustaf!
Very often these explosives, sold in Europe, are parts of several other ones, later fitted together in a new sample, like my 18-pounder shrapnel grenade. But seen from these photo's , this is the original one with it's original parts. :thumb up:

Thanks Pierre,
There has been many of this type of grenade recovered from a recedeing glacier in Italy, but very few have the fins.

Hey Gus,

as I said when you emailed this one to me at work, "awesome". I love this grenade. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for you.

Bryan.
