Before you dismiss all of that. If you can Prove the ancestry then you become eligible for scholarships from the daughters of the American Revolution. Nothing for you but it might be extremely useful for Logan. They have quite a few easy scholarships.

Thank you Joe for that information. I will look into that, there is a Loree website which outlines the entire family tree. No real offense was intended, I got carried away in my assumed role of the Canuck Loyalist twitting the Yankee Rebels, its all Gus's fault really, he goads me into these exchanges :D.
In fact, I am very proud to have such deep roots in both America and Canada....all because some Welshman named Loree decided to sign up with the British army and was sent to fight the Dutch on Long Island. There are records of the pension award and there is the grave in NJ. Recently, Canadian members of the family, who located that site had a new headstone put in place with the permission of the cemetery committee. Local re en actors attended and fired a salute at the grave site. This definitely needs to be pursued, I need to clarify and get a real handle on the entire matter.

They are quite picky in the proof category. My sister has tried unsuccessfully on behalf of kids and grandkids. I actually think they have a series of "unclaimed scholarships" every year. Lots of old money!
