I scored this one from a recent auction - it has a perfect shape and is straight. It is a Depaheg Patent Fiber helmet. The photos aren't the best but I am working on photographing all my helmets in a perfect lighting. Thought I would just show off the new Xmas gift!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Well I learned something new...I rotated the picture but the website rotates them back. I will remember that for next time! #-o

Very nice pickelhaube in excelent condition!

Do you think it's an officer's helmet? I see EM kokarden and no stars at the spike base... on the other hand there's an officer's back spine, a perlring and double horizontal lines on the spike as for officer's helmets. It might be more something like a Fahnrich helmet... but I can be wrong of course...

Very nice, I love those vulcan fibre helmets! If they have experienced decent conditions they look fantastic after 100 yrs. Congrats

Congratulations on acquiring this very beautiful helmet for your collection from the auction! =D> :bravo:

It's great to see the liner is pristine, since they did not show liner images for the vast majority of the helmets. I was very surprised to see that many of the good helmets did not end up selling.

A fantastic Christmas present indeed! Congratulations once again on this wonderful helmet!

Best Regards,

Alan

I was surprised too a lot did not sell. There were a lot of great helmets, I wish I could have bid on more but there was that darn 25% fee on top of the final price... :(

Yes, I agree, that fee is a killer. I had to sit this one out, unfortunately.

This past summer I got several really nice medal bars from them for very reasonable prices, even when the fee was added.

I was curious to learn more about the Hessian helmet they called a "parts helmet". The patina looked very dark on all the brass fittings, as if things had been all together that way for half a century or more without being cleaned. They had a lot of very nice looking helmets, and almost an equal number of what they called "parts helmets", which I'd never seen them have before.

Alan

This was their first time doing an "online-only" auction. Their previous 3-auctions since creating the new company all had printed catalogs with in-house bidding combined with online bidding. This one was online-only through Invaluable.com.

They sold a 2nd Kurassier officer helmet that appeared to have an original front plate on it. Several helmets that appeared to be good went unsold. I wondered if all the helmets came from one consignment/collection, or multiple sources.

Best Regards,

Alan

when i paid i spoke with someone from the auction house and they said that the helmets had to be first shipped to the usa from germany.
