New to Forum... Help with Garde Kürassier Helm..

I'd be guessing (correctly I think) that this is the maker mark for 'Damaschke'....

I am not convinced. I had a look at mine, same mark, but it looks more like Jamaschke with the "J" having a distinct little top sticking forward like in this font.

Hi Tony

I'm guessing of course, but took my cue from these two references I found online...

1) A description in a previous Kube auction.. http://www.kube-auktionen.de/auktionen/107/sites/helme.php (see Los Nr: 117)

2) This mark on an imperial german blade (which I know equally little about... ) .... apparently this sword was SUPPLIED by - but not made by - F Damaschke, "maker to the palace".... http://www.germaniainternational.com/kweapons2.html (see the 4th item down - nr KWEP 2-4)

F Damaschke, sword 'supplier' may be totally unrelated of course...

It would be great to see your maker mark in detail, or hear from anyone who may know more about Damaschke/Jamaschke..

And thanks Brian (et al) - I fear you guys are right - this will probably not be my last 'lid'.

I was wrong. Marshall, you are correct. RoyA sent me this photo, and it is clearly Damaschke. Joe, you'll have to fix your maker's mark list, as it is listed as Jamaschke there.

Hello Gents

After 6 years of ownership, I am now selling the helmet in this thread and thought some of you may appreciate a heads up?
