New water bottle

Here is something I picked up at the Ogden show, I seem to find some very interesting things there from time to time. It was offered as a Belgian glass water bottle, but I doubted it. The moment it was placed in my hand, I knew what it was, and that is a hint.

The first place I saw one of these was on gittigidiyor.com. You can not see the feature that identified it to me, but I will hint that the bottle has vertical ridges in the body under the original cover. It goes nicely with one of my rarer grenades, and that is all the hints I am giving at this point:)

So what is it Gus? I remember you had a rare Russian imperial grenade; is that it?

I expected you to know this one, maybe I am wrong, but isn't this a Turkish water bottle?

What an amazing spree! I'm always so impressed and thankful that we have such an expert such as ukturkcollector adding to our knowledge. I know nothing about Turkish stuff but it is always interesting and loaded with photos and deep explanations. Thank you. I appreciate your efforts.

See Gus it is an old whiskey bottle.

And while I am rambling our mannequin makers that gave us Karl the Saxon etc. do a much better job than this guy at the Museum.

Hey Chris,
I agree that the aluminum water bottle that you show is the standard water bottle. but glass bottles were used by Russian, Bulgarians, Germans and many others. The thing that caught my eye, (or rather hand) was the pattern on the outside of this bottle. I have seen two listed on the Turkish ebay like auction sight, listed as Turkish water bottles. I also saw one on ebay.de listed as the same, these are the only places I have seen this type of bottle. I have no evidence that it is a military bottle, but after seeing two listed on gittigidiyor.com where the main buyers are in Turkey, I am inclined to thiink there may be something to the thought that they may be an ersatz Turkish bottle. It is also possible that this bottle was owned by a Turkish soldier named "Jack Daniels" judging by the remnants of the paper lable found in the box that this was in.
