New York City to Teach Kids Arabic Numerals

I saw on social media today that New York City, which just elected its first Muslim mayor, will require that school children learn Arabic numerals! What is next? They'll have to learn the Latin alphabet, too?

I would be surprised if that is accurate. Personally I do not believe a single thing I see on social media.

And for the record I have no problem with any race, religion or skin colour. Just thought I would have fun with Latin.

exactly, we all use arabic numerals all the time just because the islamic mathematicians were way ahead of the western world at the time, and they proved to be much more practical than the roman numerals I V X C M etc. western civilization adopted them 1000 years ago and they went global...

It was a very good joke that I relayed. Only one did not understand and misinterpreted. They probably ignored they have always been using Arabic numbers...

Yup LOL. I think in my head I was seeing Arabic alphabet not numerals LOL. And it was a great joke Peter. And I do get fired up with all the crap and fake news on social media.

It can be confusing. In France kids learn early that they count with Arabic numerals. It may be different in America, hence the joke...
