Nice M15 cover

Not being an expert on these, would this be a private purchase / officer type cover (without the hooks) or just a later / different issue type?

It's a cover for one of those M15 officers model pickelhauben with removable spike and chinscales. Th officer could take off the spike and replace his shiny chinscales by a standard leather EM one. Hereby he was less visible as being an officer by the enemy...

I just noticed that the kokarde is mounted befor the split pin was put in place. :-k

Do you mean mounted under the side post? I believe those are large - hole cockades. Let me know if you're thinking of something else. :)

Yes that's what I mean Ron.
But I was wrong, it just fits perfectly over the side post, I should have known by taking a look at one of my M15s.
