seller indicates when purchased he believed it to be from a telegraph unit, now not so sure?

It appears to be an enlisted Eigentumsstuck, private purchase, helmet. The liner indicates private purchase, but not officer. The crown on the Wappen is not voided, the Feldzeichen is enlisted, the Korkarde is enlisted, and it has a chinstrap instead of chinscales. The Feldzeichen also seems "standard" instead of a corded upgrade that is common on these.

That being said, it does look like a top notch Tschako. The Feldzeichen appears sewn, not glued and the Kokarde looks good. The chinstrap may be a replacement, but we all know how that goes. If it is a replacement, it's a good one. At it's current price I would definitely buy it. It has eight days to go so I would imagine it will go up in price as more people discover it.

Good luck,
John :)

You were correct to be sceptical. There is nothing about that Tschako that I see to indicate Telegraphen. Nice Tschako, but Jäger.

Have a look at an original untouched Telegraphen HERE.

Granted, mine is issue, but please note the Neusilber fittings to include M91 posts, chinstrap fittings, and of course the Eagle Wappen.

The seller's Tschako probably is more along the lines of THIS.
