Hello,
La pointe a été démontée (Pickel wurde auseinandergemacht)

La plaque est superbe (eagle with motto is very fine) !
Regards :D

Hi Chas,
This is a rare bird and to my eyes this looks good. My only comment would be a possiblity of some of the rays missing at the 6:00 position. I would ask to see a picture of the kokarden and of course the back of the helmet plate. Bill

Yea Slim I am watching it too. I won't be bidding but for our newer collectors, this is one of the rarest! I have never seen one of these up for sale on Ebay. The seller says that the helme is marked to JR96. If I had the cash I would go for this one. Brian

I hope I didn't put the whammy on any of the interested parties by calling attention to it here. I also like the helmet, but will not be bidding this time.

Hello,

Sorry, but...
"La pointe a été démontée (Pickel wurde auseinandergemacht) "
means :
the spike has been dismantled, or changed;
What a shame on a so scarce helmet !
Best regards
:D

Hi

This helmet is especially seldom. First time I see one. So we must be cautious.

Copy of the plate are available (see Kammerbulle.de.vu). However, this one and especially the central part look very good (very accurate design)

The shell and stamp seem very good.

About the spike, nothing to add.

Eric

OK what am I missing about this spike?? Are we talking about some missing spike brads? I see no problems with the spike other than it looks a bit stretched in the picture probably due to the camera angle or the camera itself. In addition, if someone buys this and needs a brass spike....I will sell them a replacement. Brass spikes are not hard to find. Brian

Hi all

According to picture I got from the seller, there are no double holes. One round purple stamp inside the shell, but I can not read it

Eric

Thank you very much James! I had taken all guaranties and this hat is 1000% original. It even has the correct Reuss cockade, which is exceptionally rare. I was not expecting to pay much less.
All by myself for Thanksgiving. Had to indulge myself...

I really wanted it as well, but could not bid that high, so I am very happy another member got it!

Yes, when I got the photo's from the seller and saw the rare Kokarden, I could not beleive it!

Again, congrats!

James

Hope 911Car does not mind me posting this photo of his new helmets Kokarden!

Hi

Congratulations for this helmet !

Could you post a view of the rear of the Wappen plate, for my knowledge?

thank you

Eric

Thanks to all of you. I will have pictures posted once I get the helmet. The seller (a lady who wrote that her father, then a US soldier, brought it back from Germany in 1945; it was always in the family since then and she was "shocked" when she saw the price the hat had fetched...) sent many additional pictures, all of them confirming the great and genuine condition of the helmet. The spike may have been undone at some point, though, and put back in the wrong position. No big deal. This is very frequent. It was also the case on the Saxe-Weimar reserve helmet I purchased some time ago. I just fixed that yesterday.
