Not ebay, but I offer

Have you seen;
http://www.icollector.com/Militaria-2-helmets-WW1-era-Baden-Infantry-E-M-griffin-hat-badge-reads-F-Fuerst-U-wartime-P_i9442644" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Someone got a good deal, providing they are complete. However, no pics of the interior.

I would like to give fair warning here.
Many of these sites have popped up since the success of Ebay.
I searched one of these sites and found a very nice Pickelhaube for sale, relatively cheap.
The Haube for sale was mine! Apparently the photo was taken off of Google search and used for the advertisement.
I don't know what the buyer got, but it wasn't the helmet shown.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the website. It may have been I Offer, but there are many out there.

Buyer beware on some of these sites.

Thanks for the heads up on this John. I knew that this had been done on Ebay but did not know that false auction sites have been set up as well.

You are never sure, scams can happen every where and on both sides.
I stopped advertising on ebay since I sold a collectible (no militaria!) and the buyer said the box arrived empty...
He did pay with paypal, got his money back, that I had to refound and there I was...
After many messages and proofs I got half, of the amount by paypal...
Learned my lesson well, and all my expensive items go to real auction houses.
All others go on catawiki. Same shit, but different approach, ....

You are 100% correct.
Computers and the internet will be the downfall of us all.

Kris: One thing you can do is use your cell phone camera to take a picture of the package at the post office with all government labels before it is sent.

I had them, even pictures of the content and the way it was packed, ready to show them, but they were never asked.
Paypal knew I had them, because I mentioned it.
And that is the difference between paypal/ebay and catawiki, the approach by catawiki is more human.
You get to chat with a real person from the start, paypal/ebay are robot's.
Up to now (with catawiki)3 disputes came in my favor, no big value's involved here....

$120 for both helmets is certainly a bargain, if they are authentic. The latter is difficult to judge from the pictures provided. I agree that there is certainly a risk involved when buying helmets (and other stuff) through ebay. That's why I obtained my helmets through established dealers, but even that is no guarantee.

Regards,

Edwin

Hi Edwin,

The pair of helmets actually sold for $600 + $120 Commission, so $720 to an in house bidder from what I see on the web site.

Best Regards,

Alan
