It's great hearing from you again. Thanks! I wouldn't have reached this milestone without your friendship and guidance. When I have a moment to photograph number 50 in detail, there will be some interesting surprises to share with the gang.
I now have a restoration project on my hands, straight from eBay. The first step will be to eradicate the dreadful spray lacquer (thanks, Dr. Eric Johansson, for that supremely retarded preservation advice). I've already removed the liner and spike, and will begin stripping (the helmet) tomorrow.

It's not perfect, but given the rarity, I am extremely pleased.
As I mentioned to Tony, the chinscales and Kokarden were borrowed from my 7 JzP Metallhelm as these were missing from the KR 1.
I spent several hours Sunday removing spray lacquer from the shell, spike and Wappen. Someone in the chain of custody evidently thought this was a good idea, even though the lacquer was applied over dirt and active rust. I nearly cried when I saw the Wappen as the gilt was at least 98% intact. The trick was in removing the lacquer and not destroying the gilt.
This is where things stand today. When the project is finished, I'll take another photo to mimic the first. Below is a preview for comparison.
