Officer Guard Regiment of Foot or Guard Grenadier

So, as I mentioned on an earlier post, I purchased some helmets from the collection of a very old but now deceased family friend.

One of the helmets was the one in the photos attached, but it had a General Officer's feathered trichter cobbled onto it for some reason.

The gentleman who had purchased it inthe 1960s obtained it with this trichter already attached, and I don't think he actually knew better.

This helmet is a good example of the kind of parts swapping that was prevalent for the time. I do not believe anyone knew any better back when he purchased it. There was no real literature out there to help collectors and these things were not considered items of real value back then in the 1960s, so I do not believe this was done maliciously or with intent to commit fraud at the time.

This is the first General Officer's trichter I have ever owned, but I am not really sure what I will eventually do with it...

I had an extra Officer's spike in my parts bin and screwed it on once I unscrewed the mis-matched trichter.

Anyway, the helmet appears to be either 2nd, 3rd or 4th Guard Regiment of Foot or an helmet from Guard Grenadier Regiments 1 through 5. I found this in Trawnick's book that I credited in my prior post.

This is my first helmet of this type, and any comments concerning it or things that seem "off" about it would be greatly appreciated.
