Officers helmet

okay guys, I am the sucker who bought this helmet.

On pickelhaubes.com, I trust members who are mostly collectors treat each other with utmost honesty and listing all the plus and flaws of a haube that we are selling. I have many dealings on this forum and never have any issue till this recent purchase.

Glad I use Paypal (without the friends and relatives function) and Paypal has handled the case professionally.

I can't tell much from the one photo that I see. What was wrong with it? All I see that is questionable is the shape of the spike, but that could be the angle of the photo.

I cannot say that I have had the same luck with PayPal. They just cost me $1300 by siding with a crooked dealer. He now has his merchandise and my money and I have no recourse.

Seller did send me additional pics but all were not of quality pixels and I asked what's the flaws and he claimed besides one missing stars, all correct and original. Chinscale and rosettes were reproduction and three sets of mounting holes. Sent him email and no reply. I am not upset with receiving a not as described piece as I know I have PayPal and also my banker who will fight for me. What is upsetting is that we place trust on our forum members.

John, sorry to hear about it. Why don't u try to get the bank to dispute the amount. I do that when I have strong evidence and when PayPal turned down my request.

Amy,
Send me a pm with your personal e-mail and I'll fill you in on the entire story --- and most importantly --- the dealer!

Amy, this seller buys headgear of all sorts at auction to sell on, and often seeks information and valuations on different forums. I have bought a couple of good pieces from him, but often his items have obvious condition issues. In my experience he does not know very much about the stuff he buys and sells, but I have never thought he sets out to deceive. In fact I have found him very straightforward to deal with, so I am surprised that you are having issues. Hope you get a good outcome.

Well was hoping he can be straight forward and prompt in replying but sad to say he wasn't. Even when a dispute case was opened, he did not bother to respond to me.

To me, if you are not sure of certain parts of the haube, you let me know and I make an informed decision. So if I gamble and lost it, I admit failure.

Well should be sorted out since PayPal has urged me to return the item and its fully insured so should be alright. Thank you for letting me know.

only 20 posts since 2012, I think is the kind that pops into the forum when he needs something,

James

James not everyone "talks" LOL. Sometimes the forum goes complete silent and I then start to think if there are ways to recruit new members to "talk" lol

Funny that seller just contacted me to say return the item after PayPal has approved the returns. Seller claimed that he was out of town for two weeks. In this modern technology age, we all access our emails and messages every hour. 😁

Just an update on this. Seller refused to pick up parcel from post office and sign off so in that way, the parcel has been shipped but I will still not get my Paypal refund back. Anyway, avoid this seller at all cost.

Seller - Mr Kevin Robinson, if you think that I have slander you in anyway, you may send me a PM and I will give you details of my lawyer(who is my sister) for you to serve me a writ in the State Courts of Singapore. My posting has not been edited by the owner of pickelhaubes.com so please come after me directly.

Sad to see this happening!
Had that issue too on a different (militaria)forum.
I always double check forum(on any forum!) pseudo's who don't seem familiar to me, before getting into business.
And I also have a legal counsel insurance for the last 3 years.
I hope it works out for you!!

Thank you. I hope to have it worked out as well but we all learnt through mistakes and to prevent forum members from deceiving others, I therefore decided to post my experience with this member.

I encourage other members to post your experience (both positive and negative). If you speak the truth, there's no issue with defamation.

Robinson hassnt being online since june so i think he would be coming to this forum unless he has something else to sell ....

Sellers with such behavior should be denied access to the "for sale" section.
At least for the time of straighten up the issues that did appeared.

Amy,
We have a new section called "Buyer Beware: Problems with Purchases" where this information could be posted. I had a major issue with a dealer and with PayPal that prompted me to contact Tony, Brian, and James and they came up with this new section. My problem is that I am afraid of legal action should I bring up the problem with this dealer. I know that you should be okay if you simply tell the truth, but that is not necessarily the way things work now. It used to be that you were innocent until proven guilty --- then you were guilty until you could prove yourself innocent --- now you are guilty just because we want you to be. Tread lightly.

John :x :x :x

Hi John,

I knew about your issue. Thank you for advising me to thread lightly, will try to as you know that we woman are very emotional animals LOL
