I mean--this can't be real, right? The body doesn't look like tombak, the eagle looks incredibly poorly made, and people are bidding on it.

This is a typical "Bannerman's" helmet from the 1920's and 30's. They were a big militaria wholesaler in New York and their catalogues are amazing ( a lot of surplus Civil War stuff). These helmets were made from an odd assortment of leftover original parts, and account for many of the oddball GdC type helmets out there...
