I don't know if you've seen this, but it's pretty interesting.

By "unidentified"... do they mean the Kaiser?

What a fantastic set of footage! If you can get over the irritating watermark this is a long flick well worth your time. They do not do a good job in the old film identifying what you're looking at. The first part is about the wedding between the Kaiser's only daughter and her fiancé the Duke of Braunschweig. 1913. This was a momentous event as it reunified the old blood of the kingdom of Hanover with the Prussians.

They have cavalry regiments on the March! I was unable to determine which regiments but it was fine. The very last part which is attributed to Eastern Prussia at the start of the war is false. You can identify those guys as belonging to RJR203. the did not go east. Formed around Berlin they were part of the doomed FALKENHAYN mobilization. If you do not know about these guys it is well worth reading. There are two good English language sources. Great War Dawning starting on page 296 and Jack Sheldon's book about the German army at First Ypres.

Also the infantry marching up to the front are not infantry.

This is very very good thank you for posting it Ron. This is exact period of the war that I am interested in. =D> :bravo:

You're welcome Joe! I knew that you and others would know much more about this than the people who identified or 'unidentified' the clips. I'd love to see more of what they have. When I get time. :)

Pretty extraordinary to see the German cavalry from 7:20 onwards.

Great clip, thanks for sharing.
