One year volunteer insight from KB

Hey KB got your stuff!

I'm still working through some KB stuff, but he sent me a page of a German language text on our friend Nietzsche. If I get it right, he wanted to be a one-year volunteer in a guard unit. They rejected him as a one year volunteer, and he ended up doing his time in a field artillery unit. I did not realize that units would ever reject a one year volunteer. It was after all free labor. Learn something every day, I guess Nietzsche just wasn't of the right stuff, money, or DNA.

PS KB -- that stuff by Frank Harris is a bit apocryphal, I think. I never realized Americans are that stupid.

Joe,
In his lifetime, Frank Harris was editor of the Saturday Review, close friends with Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw, and generally considered a man of letters.

He was born in Ireland, so maybe you're right: no American can be that stupid.
