Some feedback would be great and a ballpark price would help a lot.

Hi Lyndon,
The Baden has the wrong plate fitted, it should be brass to match the other fittings and not silver. Also I would be surprised if the cockades are original especially the Baden state one. It's lost some laquer also at the rear so personally I would hold off but it depends on what it reaches I guess.. The filze I really could'nt say. The spike and trim and whats left of the strap look period but to me the shell seems very clean. And the liner........you need to ask the experts on this. These are a minefield.

The ersatz filz liner looks fine to me although we can see that it is partially detached on the left side as shown in the interior pic. You can see that it has been in there for a long time if you look at the fold line around the rim of the shell. This is what it should look like. I would ask the seller if there are any splits/cracks in the felt. This is a common problem with the filz helms...tears in the felt. For example, we all saw a filz helme marked R116 at the SOS with no plate but the rear visor was glued where it had torn away from the shell. Brian

This is part of the helmet in question. This "B" mark is new to me also.

Hi Brian,
I mentioned the liner because the seller tells of "a musty smell" and it looks to me like there could be a slight touch of mould on the leather surface. But it could just be that white deposit that some leather aquires with age and the fact that I'm paranoid about mildew and rot when it comes to these things. 8-[

Mildew on liners can be dealt with using Lysol wet wipes. It may come back but just wipe it away again for another year. Brian
