OR Garde with Plume

Have not shown any of my new helmets for awhile, so thought I would show this one. Picked this one up from another military forum. Needed scales and kokarden to complete.

No markings, so I would say either 1st Garde regiment or Garde Pioneer?

Sorry about the photo's , crappy weather still cannot get outside.

James, way to go you. A very nice looking helmet. I love the Wappen. look at that detail. :hello1: Do you like helmets with the Haarbusche?

I have to admit, that the Preußen Garde helmets with silver fittings I have always had a hard time wrapping my head around. With the pre-1891 screw-post and bolt, it was easy. If the washer between the bolt and the brass chinscales was brass, it was Infanterie. If the the washer was silver, it was Pionier. But with the M91 post, they were in nickel silver as well, and you can't tell.

And to make it worse, you would think that with brass chinscales, they would have used a leather M91 chinstrap with brass fittings, right? But ooooh nooooo... they had to use a leather M91 chinstrap with brass fittings. :tard:

Again, GREAT helmet! :thumbleft:

Thanks guy's I love this one. Tony- I do have to admit I like helmets with the Haarbusche, makes them look more Grand IMO. Only have a few with the Haarbusche and wish I had more :D

Hi James,

Great Score! A buddy of mine has found helmets on other forums as well. Guess I'll have to start watching them too, when there's great things like this to be had on them. He recently snagged a very nice Prussian line infantry officer w/the field cover. Congrats on the superb find!!! Alan.
