Some pics of original manufacturers' labels both from Berlin. If you have some, please add to this thread.

Great Labels guys! Thanks for posting. Aran a Berlin maker from Crown Street and one which was allowed to use the Kaiser's name on his label ie a quality maker sponsored by the royal family. It would be interesting to know how a maker got that designation..purveyor to the royal family.

Here are a few others...

Karel Do you see the spelling of Neuman to be odd? The earlier tag is spelled Neumann which they have on other papers from the firm. Why do you think the spelling is different?

Hi Joe,
Seems I lost this thread somehow... Anyway, it seems that the address is also different. Maybe the company moved and also changed their label. I really don't know...
Also the word Kopfmaass (head size) is spelled in a different way... in the first label it's Kopfmaass and in the second label it's Kopfmaß.
In the label I posted it appears that the label is damaged by the glue or so and that the last "n" is gone or maybe it was never there, I can't see that.
Maybe others have something to say about this label?

If I recall from Joe's book, the German language took some time to 'standardize', so that some people spelled words one way and some another; similar to English and US spelling of words like theatre, colour (English) or theater, color (US). Perhaps some were a hold-over from dialects or older ways of spelling, in which each is correct.
All in all, with the repro. labels on the market now, this is a very useful thread.

Haha, I saw this fake helmet, I can only guess the label is fake too...

Here's my meager contribution: An uncommon maker's label--directly printed inside the cap--with an illegible name tag underneath it. Both belonging to a Prussian M1910 EM Schirmmütze with the artillery colors (black central band) unless I am lucky enough to own a Flieger cap?
I increased the contrast in the second closeup of the owner’s tag hoping someone here could make out whether it belonged to Artillerie, Pioniere, Verkehrstruppen, or… some Flieger soldier =P~ ? (all I could make out myself is the '3')

Inside my Prussian enlisted pickelhaube. Unusual for an enlisted helmet? Did units have paper labels..7th Company?

Marking on the visor:

Yes 7th Kompanie. OR's paper labels are unusual and this is the first I have seen. Usually they are that size and shape but made of white cotton with black border. Exactly like yours but cloth. References tell us that these were issued as clothing ID tags, stitched in so Hans und Franz did not get their undies mixed up. They often glued them into the front of the helmet shell as well.
