So the helmet also has "Niemeyer" written in it what looks to be lead pencil. Which also happens to appear to be the same 1st three letters visible in the larger print in the paper tag. Strange.
Nothing strange about the tag or the name. The guy who was issued the helmet was Niemeyer. The tags in both paper and cloth were purchased by the soldier from the general store of that Unit. He was marking his kit .
Yes we often find names penciled in our helmets plus the size. Often the size is done in blue for some reason. The OR's often have an ink stamped size from the manufacturer. The custom purchase helmets usually have size written in by hand.

Another example of the M. Neumann paper label found inside a Garde Pioneer OYV helmet. The helme is totally officer except for kokarden, and OR's domed spike base brads. Size...small approx 55cm
