part of a nice little collection

Battlefieldbooks are good guys, not far from me and come up with nice stuff from time to time. Prices are high, but look like good Bond helmets.

This Tschapka is ok without the garde star! have one just like it.

James

The Garde eagle is not correct with this Tschapka, it should be a brass wappen (surely a short eagle) and not fieldgrey painted. So, the price seems to me a bit high.

Yes you're right Maxime,

For me the plate should be a brass prussian one or a saxon, not a grey guard one.
I think so because of the space betwen the two holes for the plate.
My opinion is that this guard plate has resolded loops to fit to this tschapka body.
Maxime, can you remind us what should be the space betwen the two holes for fixing the plate, for a guard plate, a prussian, and a saxon ?.
Thank you in advance.

Regards, :)

I can not give you an answer for the saxon Tschapka because it is not my business but for the prussian Uhlans, the distance between the hooks is usualy 6,5 cm for the line regiments and 7,5 cm for the Guard regiments but since the regulations of 1915, it is 6,5 cm for both.

Maxime

Thank you Maxime, you're still the best !.
This easily explain how this tschapka became a guard one instead of a prussian one.
One day an old collector transformed a prussian tschapka in a guard to have one in his collection, a very common thing in the old collections, very well described in the Larcade's book.
