Yes, this is a landwehr wappen for an officer. The landwehr cross seems large on this example. I agree they are less common than a regular guard officer. But they are a lot more common than an enlisted model of the same. As with all things in helmets, rarity does not equal price.

Is it my imagination or do the wings on this chicken seem very short? It may be the way the picture has been taken but there just doesn't seem to be the wrap round that I would expect with a Guard Wappen.

I believe that it is perspective that makes the wings look short.

Lightning struck twice. Tony discovered this and I stumbled on an Identical card.

Mine is written on the back dated 1911. OK KB have at it..... i cannot read much of it.
