Photo Impression Tête du Violu - Bernhardstein Alsace Vosges

Dear Friends,

May I draw your attention to the release of a new photo page about the Tête du Violu in the Alsace Vosges, France?

It is a photo report of a day trip we made in June 2008 on a seldom-sunny day. As always, Christine and I, started our day with visiting two cemeteries, to remind us that my passion for the Western Front knows also it's sad aspects: the horrible wartime circumstances, and the numerous casualties of the war.

We began that day with a visit to the Sainte Marie aux Mines Deutscher Soldatenfriedhof, which is a sad site, but which is also to my modest opinion a beautiful site. Then we went to the Col de Ste. Marie to visit the French National Cemetery. From there we went southward over the eastern slopes of the Bernhardstein, north-east of the nearby Tête du Violu, to focus on the German bunkers along the "Landwehrstrasse", or like the French call it nowadays the "Chemin des Abris", the Bunker Path or Shelter Path. I could not resist offering you also some views of the beautiful landscape of the Val d'Argent.

Of course I do hope, that you will appreciate the photo's and the information, to be found on this new webpage: "Tête du Violu - Bernhardstein".

Thanks in advance for visiting my website again!

With friendly regards,

Pierre

P.S. Can some one help me out, please, with finding a period picture of L.I.R. 80 near Markirch or active along the Bernhardstein - front sector?
