Photo's German relics at the Schratzmännele, Vosges

pyi4m.jpg

Recently I extended my photo page about the Col du Wettstein and the Schratzmännele in the Vosges, France.
In the second half of my page you will find a perhaps interesting photo report about my visit of 2008 to trace some German relics at the densely vegetated Schratz. Relics of trenches, quarries, and bunkers.
The Schratzmännele almost always shared it's battles with the nearby (200m) Lingekopf, le Linge, until the beginning of 1916.
But even after the great battles of 1915 petered out, there was still fighting going on on a daily basis along this Vosges front. The Germans fortified their bunkers furtheron with concrete, often under "enemy"-fire.

In the next pages, after the one about the Schratz, I try to explain what has happened at the Lingekopf and the Schratzmännele sector of the Vosges front.

Thanks in advance for visiting my website.
