Pickelhaube and yet not Pickelhaube

It looks somehow cast to me. Would like to see better photos after it arrives. But even if it does, it's still a beautiful wall decoration (y)

Cool find Amy I was watching this but just don't have the wall space it should look great when displayed. (y)(y)

Congratulations

An interesting complementary piece to a "pointy hat" collection (as my wife would say).

I have a few Wappens that have pin holes in them as they were at one time mounted on a display board. The Wappens came out of France I think, where it was not uncommon for them to be displayed in pubs or such places as war souvenirs.

A very desirable way to display the wappen. Obviously, the person was skilled at reshaping the metal and not causing undue tension or breaks. A very nice piece. Wappen on crests can be addictive. Trust me. I have over 35 Wappen of Imperial/Reichsmarine and Kriegsmarine. Make fascinating discussion pieces though as it displays much easier to one's eye.
I guess if you have the wappen and the helmet is way beyond any repair, this method of display is quite beautiful and functional.
Nice pick up.

Thank you for sharing that beautiful piece.
