Pickelhaube Kürassier-Regiment Königin (Pommersches) Nr.2

Recently bought this bad boy at an ebay auction.

Though the inside is really rough due to the way it was being displayed by the man who brought it back after ww1, the outside is in an extremely good condition. Though I have my doubts about the chinstrap the rest looks 100% original to me 😁

I have doubts over the wappen and the way the oval spikebase was held down. I may be wrong again LOL

I have a similar one that I bought from Tony Cowan but I am not at home for 2 weeks, so I couldn't compare the two. However, the experts here are able to give your their opinion.

How is the spike being held on? The wappen looks odd to me as well. Don't like that the chin strap is missing the small leather ends.

The way the spike is being held on is that the soldier who brought it back soldered it all shut, then overpainted the inside black. The pins are still original, just partially cut off and soldered shut. The wappen looked odd to me aswell, but after comparing it to other mannshaft wappens of the 2nd Kürassier regiment (such as theone Helmut Weitze is selling) it doesnt look that far off and I can see it being an original piece.

The only real red flag is indeed the chinstrap. but appart from that it looks just the part, just horribly abused by its post wartime owner for display and costume purposes. The price for it was fair and it doesnt look straight up horrible so I don't mind too much :)

Hi Johann,
Seeing the reverse side might tell....

There also appears to be a stamped 99 under the landeskokarde. I have also found a crudely ingraved 4 E in the backside of the lobstertail (see link below) anyone knows what it might reffere to? the 4E looks like it was ingraved by the soldier itself, perhaps the 4th squadron? the 99 I really have no idea of what it could be.

Think the "99"actually maybe a "66" and is the size. The 4E would be 4th squadron, never seen it scratched in like that before. If the squadron is marked where is the regimental stamp?

Hi Alcusv

I have looked everywhere on the helmet but I cannot seem to find any regimental markings. Only the stamped 66 and the scratched in E4... If I do find a K 2 or something like that on the helmet I will naturally post a picture of it the second I see it.

OK, I am back from my trip(holiday trip in Taiwan) and then trip over the new uneven slab built by the council with a deep cut on my head with 47 stitches. Still I can recognise my haubes lol. Yes I am supposed to post my M1842 kurassier Nr 2 by A. Klucke&Co. Helmet plate was secured via threads that punched through the platr directly. A 2K stamp is behind the reich cockade.

Hope your head is ok and you are recovering well. Here in the States such a "trip" would be worth several helmets.

Well I don't know how many helmets that is worth, council tried pushing the blame to the contractors, so will wait for their loss adjustor to assess the case.

Hopefully as what you have said its worth a few helmets :army:

Good Lord...47 stitches, that is one heck of a trip!! Very sorry that this has happened Amy. :(
