Hello, I would like your opinion on this uhlan helmet at 3400euros.
Are the insignia and mountings original? Does it have any historical value?
Is it military?
Many thanks

You read the Weitze English description on this Tschapka?? -Fähnrich headgear never had 100% Officers components. There always had to be Other Ranks pieces on it.

I know that just like pickelhaube a tzschapka can have officer quality parts, but as the first reply identifies it as officer I wanted to state it was not,l

I also wanted to state that when considering buying such objects, and spending big, in my opinion you are obligated to master the basics, most of us start humble and learn the hard way, nothing against starting big, and buying from well known dealers is a safe option in that case, but even then study the subject and don’t only rely only the advice of a forum like this ( forgive me for being rude, but this way of collecting is a bit arrogant towards people that are into the hobby for a long time and are happy to be able to afford a M95 or M15.

Hello, thank you for your comment, it's true that a classic mod 1895 or a "petit gris" is already a beautiful piece in itself and that finding a good one with a good chinstrap and cockade is complicated these days.
It's true that a tin Bing or the felt model would be nice too.

But as far as I'm concerned, a general parade helmet with feather bush, an officer with horsehair, an officer uhlan has an interesting presence.
I don't want to own 50 "classic" ones, but I do want to have 2 on display at home.

And 2 top brass with bush are the grail for my collection.

We all work or live for our passions.
And I believe that this forum is full of enthusiasts and people who have much more knowledge than me in this field.
And I have every confidence in them.

After all, documentation isn't complete without the experience of old hands and the handling of parts....

I don't think I'm being "harsh", it's my choice of collection and I don't want to create tension or jealousy with the forum members.
Thanks

I agree that the one presented in this article poses a few problems and that some of the details are a concern.
No pin for "the strings" 2 cracks on the top of the plate and chinstrap with different scales from the Prussian eagle....
I admit that price estimation is a big unknown for me...
Sincerely
