Chris,
that is a wonderful array of shoulder boards, epaulettes and shoulder straps. One which caught my eye was the one titled as a Generaladjutant of Kaiser Wilhelm and à la suite of Füsilier-Regiment von Gersdorff (Kurhessisches) Nr. 80. I have not seen that configuration of the stars for a General der Infanterie on the shoulder board before, that is next to each other, although of course that was the configuration on the epaulette and originally also on the special Generals' pattern shoulder board on the old pattern parade Waffenrock.
It does say pre 20 August 1898 (cypher introduced) but the only General à la suite of Füsilier-Regiment Nr. 80 was Josias v. Heeringen and he was not appointed until 20 March 1911 nor was he ever a Generaladjutant. I think the board could have belonged to General der Infanterie Leopold v. Boyen who was Chef of Füsilier-Regiment Nr. 80 (1871-1886) and was a Generaladjutant to Kaiser Wilhelm I but had died in 1886 and that is a Willy I pattern cypher.
Regards
Glenn
