Hi Marc,
Did you know they are discussing you post on a forum in France?

about half of the comments are negative, even though I do not collect officer items (you have to draw a line somewhere) I can see the greatness in such a collection, I think if this collection was offered to those who do not like it, they would wet down both legs, I know I would:)

It has been called to my attention that my comments may be taken in a negative way, that was not intended, It has been explained in French, what "to wet down both legs" means, but there may be some Canadians or Aussies who may misunderstand. The phrase (in our region at least) means to be very happy. Those who have had dogs around them will recognize, the reaction you get when a puppy is very excited, and they leave a puddle on the floor. Anyhoo, if I insulted anyone, I regret it, but I stand by my statement that I would wet down both legs if I were presented with such a collection.
Best wishes
Gus

Mark; Outstanding collection! Lost for words. :D :D Jerry R Gus Your understanding level is only surpassed by your humor.

I read all the comments about Mark's thread in the histoirémilitaria14-18 :: militaria thread, and all I see, is the same comments we are stating here? Lots of Ooohs and Ahhhhs.. and well, lots of praise and a touch of envy. The only negative comments I could make out, were that the pool seemed small and the photos were not taken with 'artistic flair', but neither are mine. besides, if I had a pool, it would be frozen solid (-20 right now). And those comments are almost certainlly just humour, much as we do. I think our friends on the other forum are as impressed as everyone in this forum. Pleasure to have you here Mark and thank you for sharing.

Ouch, that is quite a slam Jerry, as it is obvious that my understanding of the French language is about nill, that would mean that my humor is just above nill.
See you in Kentucky

PS the language is a little different when those little smile thingys show up, my wireless internet does not always deliver them (and by wireless internet, I mean pony express)

Mark,

Fabulous collection! I thought I had all the pickelhaubes in the country, but clearly you have the officer's supply cornered! Those Garde helmets are simply the best of the best. However, my favourite is that early Hanoverian haube.

Where are you? I am in Canberra.

Mike
