I dunno guys, I may be putting my head on the 'you're a total idiot' chopping block, but if one had the proper 'tin' mortar board and base, this might be a bargain. You get a spare spike as well the shell with what looks like the correct plate for your mortar board (remember, you have one in your spares), too bad about the four extra holes, but that might be overlooked otherwise if it were cleaned up nice with the right 'stuff'. Might even be able to plug them nicely with the right thickness of leather, some punches and some laquer.

Or am I missing that this is a TOTAL fake with a spike??? (that wouldn't be unheard of for me either)

No... I'm not going to buy it.

I’m afraid the only way to find a 'tin mortar board', will be with a helmet still attached to it …

I agree with you about the mortar board. But the helmet may be nothing but a scrap of leather on an existing board. If one likes Tschapkas, or needs one (I need one for the collection, but my wife would kill me after the nice Kuerassier I bought from Joe this past spring!), this might be something to look into. After all, you can always sell the thing later with the spike removed.
To me, other than the four extra holes, which would be hidden by the base plate of the mortar board, this looks like a good shell and such.
Remember the conversation a few years back about never finding an M15 Kuerassier spike, then one or two showed up on ebay?

Hello.

I bought this helmet and I'm very glad!

It's a nice mod 15 shapska missing the mortar bord of course and with 4 extra-holes but for 360 € and with a complete model 15 spike in extra I don't find this is a bad purchase!

Find a mortar bord will certainly not be easy but I have the time and if some one has one to sell... :D

Best regards

I once owned a M'15 (infantry pattern) helmet that had a tin mortar board affixed to it. If you could find that helmet you might be able to end up with two helmets.

Well good luck finding those parts !
If I come across off any of them I’ll give you a pm.
