Pictures of Hooge, Ypres Salient.

May I ask your attention for a new photo-impression on my website about Hooge nowadays?
The hamlet of Hooge has been the centrepoint of fighting and battles during and between the 4 Battles of Ypres. The eye of the storm, centrepoint of the battlefield. Tunneling, mining and countermining was done on a regular basis from 1915 on.
Nearby is Hill 62 and Sanctuary Wood, Maple Copse, the Bluff and Railway Wood and Y wood.
I hope you do enjoy this impression!

Thanks Mark,
Avion is about 5 km North of Vimy Ridge, France near Lens or Loos (?), where the Canadians did a rough job conquering the ridge in 1917.
Perhaps you are interested in my photo-impression of 2005 of Vimy Ridge? http://pierreswesternfront.punt.nl/?id=415348&r=1&tbl_archief=& .I did not photograph the large Canadian monument , because it was under reconstruction in 2005. For health reasons I did not enter the huge tunnelcomplex, you can visit under guidance. There was a lot of mining going on. But I hope you will enjoy the pictures of the craters and the trenches.

@ Joerookery and WylieCoyote

Thanks, Friends!

I have made quite a trip again last june 2006. So, there will be more photo-impressions and extended photo-impressions on my site.
This time I concentrated on the Ypres Salient, in the west and on the east , The St. Mihiel Salient and of course Verdun, a "mer a boire".

So you can expect pages about "behind the German Lines", like about the Beton Fabrik of Camp Marguerre, the Duzey, 380mm artillery base, 3 huge artillerybunkers near Loison, and a German sheltercomplex in a quarry in the Apremont Forest.
Also some French trenches and bunkers in the St. Mihiel Salient, the Tranchee de Calonne, and the Butte Montsec, which Patton with his tanks has to conquer twice in 2 worldwars, and centrepoint of the salient.

And of course the Pages about Ypres will be extended, with redesigned pages about the Battle of Messines Ridge, the Battle of Passchendaele Ridge, and Ploegsteert Wood. So, please, let yourself be informed by the emailservice and stay as members timely informed. :D

And of course I ask for your patience.
