Pieces from the auction

Here some pieces I was able to acquire at the auction last weekend. I know our fellow member "stuka f" sold a lot of the listed items but I'm not sure they were all part of his big collection.

On saturday it was all French stuff and on sunday German (and some British and US too). I was only there on saturday mainly because there were two items I was particularly interested in.

The first is a French képi m1884. These are very symbolic for the first bloody summer months of the conflict. In these first few months of the war France suffered almost 20% of their casualties of the entire war. It really was insanity. I'm really glad I found one in nice condition and beautifully marked.

And here the cuirass. Nicely marked. Back plate 1875, front plate 1869. The helmet I bought last year. The berthier musqueton I've had for over 10 years I think. This is a modell 1892 made in 1894. All numbers matching including bolt and stock and with original sling.
Note that there is a rare variant of the musqueton made especially for the cuirassiers. This version allowed them to fire it more comfortable while wearing a cuirras. I've never seen it personally I must admit, but the regular one is nice for display.
