A robbery took place yesterday at the Verdun Memorial museum. About 20 firearms, 35 helmets and diverse relics were stolen.

It would be nice if the museum could post a list of stolen items with photos so the collecting community could be their eyes. It would not take long to find the criminals if eveyone was knew what to look for. I for one, do not want to find that I have added something from this display in my collection.

Good question, Gus. What about the collection, Klink? Do you know some more details or could you share a link to this news? Have these guys already sold their stolen weapons or did they return the stolen hardware?
 
The stuff was nearly all recovered.

These guys got respectively 18 months and 6 months jail.

The article says they were spotted and eventually arrested thanks to a stolen spike helmet posted for sale on a public website!...

The world community makes it impossible to commit such a crime without being caught. With the internet, every one is able to know what is stolen, and anonymity is difficult to have now. It is important for collectors, as well as museums to have good photographic records of their collections to help identify stolen items.
The sentences were too short, but now these people should be know to all collectors and dealers, so they should not be able to sell anything again, not even an old penny.
