Dear all,

The missus, my daugther and me have planned a little vacation in the south west of the Netherlands very close to the Belgium border. This will enable us a one day visit to Flanders fields any tips or suggestions beyond the standard places (which I've seen already) are highly appreciated.

Regards,

Edwin

Visit for some inspiration my Photo Impressions of the Ypres Battlefields: http://pierreswesternfront.punt.nl/index.php?id=413455&r=1&tbl_archief=&" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .

Along the Belgian - Dutch border are some sites, where local historians and volunteers have recreated the situation of the "Dodendraad", the Wire of Death, a high voltage fence to prevent Belgians to smuggle, and tp prevent the flight of allied soldiers, assisted by local escape helpers like nurse Cavell, to cross the border to the "neutral" Netherlands.

Have a nice trip, Edwin!

Pierre

Gents, thanks for the suggestions, and Pierre I am already a frequent visitor of your excellent site but I will surely consult it again for additional tips.

Regards,

Edwin
