If the numbers inside are right, shouldn't this have a point instead of a ball?

The marking is clearly from infantry Regiment 111. We have several examples in our list. They are always done by hand in the crown of the helmet. Could this have been issued to an artillery unit later on? Who knows -- no marking. Based on the number of JR 111 helmets we have seen there must have been a cachet of them that was sent back to the states. I would tend to display this with a spike or nothing at all.
