A recent addition to my collection - this 1915 pattern Bavarian Officer's Helmet. Helmet came with a case and cover, but no spike. It is missing the cockades as well. There are signs that the helmet did once have cockades ( see photo of right side). I can see xanthin that would indicate that there ever a spike mounted it, I'm not sure it ever even had one. The case has a strap across the inside to hold the helmet in place, this strap wouldn't work with spike attached to the helmet. Construction of the helmet appears to be fiber material with the non reflective coating, metal fittings have a gold washed.
