Post your Generalstab Pickelhaube

I especially like to highlight other people's photos. This one comes from Fort de la Pompelle near Reims in Champagne

Good Lord Steve, you owned all of those general's helmets! That is incredible! If you have time sir, I would appreciate your telling us some stories of how you acquired these rare pieces. We are all students of History here, otherwise we would not be on this forum.

Those are amazing. I imagine all are nearly impossible to acquire now days.
I was able to replace about 3 of them.
Bavarian; Wurttemberg & Saxon .but not with the parade bush
and at higher cost than what I had sold these for

Beautiful Helmets Steve I'm sure you had your reasons for selling as painful as they may be to look back on now.

There are many reasons collectors sell hopefully yours weren't for divorce, to put food on the table or for bad health. You can always buy more if you really feel the need as difficult that would be to do at today's prices.

In the end they are only items that give a select few of us pleasure and that 99% of the world most likely thinks you were crazy for buying in the first place.

Sorry for the moment of clarity in regard to our collecting addiction we watched Alistair Simms in Scrooge again last night. ;)

It won't last. :oops::ROFLMAO:

Nothing bad
Just a wrong move at the time ( 1992 )
I made a move to collect only Prussian helmets
so I sold all of non-Prussian helmets
I was at the same time starting up a new collection
items from the UCV Reunions .I did that up until about 3 years ago
I did not want to continue to have 2 collections
so, I sold the UCV collection
I rolled the money form that back into the I G collection
live and learn
