Potsdam Giants Mitre for the Prussian Centennial Celebration?

Greetings,
I obtained this Mitre with very sparse amounts of information. The claim from the seller was that it dates back to 1894. After a little research, I discovered that this might be from the former Potsdam Giants going back to the late 18th and early 19th century. My concern stemmed from what appeared to be machined stitching on the front plate and a repair attached to the back of the that plate. In addition, the Potsdam Giants disbanded in 1806, so the 1894 date was a bit sketchy. I was told by another collector that this could be one of the Mitres pulled out of storage for the Prussian Centennial of 1897, however the Mitres by then changed significantly. Thoughts on this?

La couture n'est pas réalisée à la machine, mais à la main par un artisan qualifié. Les costumes haute couture sont assemblés à la main, les coutures sont superbes. Elles sont visibles sur les bords des revers des cols.
The wool fabric has a very good appearance. It's definitely an antique fabric! (y)

Thank you all! Very helpful. Expect it to be preserved. I only wish the seller could find the missing badge on the back of the Mitre, but as old as it is sometimes these items end up going into oblivion. Especially interesting stephenp having a relative who was in the Regiment.
