present by neighbor Artillery grouping .....need help

Hallo all

this came this week from my neighbor..IMO nice grouping.
I have 2 questions
the foot Artillery reg 28 was located in ???, and where did they fought
the iron Cross 1st class ist this a rare bird

Hi Tom: I have checked my reference books....there was no Foot Artillery Regt #28 in 1914. There was a Feld Arty Regt 28 but that was a Saxon Regt. The army was expanded greatly once the war started so Fus Arty 28 could have been created after 1914. Your Iron cross 1st class is not that rare but very collectible. Usually they are pin back to fasten them to the uniform. Yours is different then the normal ones so perhaps this will make it more valuable to a collector. There also might be a makers mark on the piece which could add to value. I do not collect these so I am no expert.
