Outstanding Historical Helmet
Prussian 1st Guard Regiment of Foot – 1st and 2nd (Grenadier Battalions), Enlisted Man Parade Miter Model 1894. This Miter helmet was a historical helmet for the Prussian Army dating back to the 1700’s. This pattern was copied after the style used by soldiers of Prussian King Frederick the Great and was used by the 1st Guard Regiment for special parade dress.
The Miter helmet has a richly ornamented stamped silver front shield. The shield has a Royal Crown on top with the monogram FR for King Frederick. In the center of the shield is the Prussian Eagle above which you find the motto for the 1GRzF “Semper Talis”. On top of the Miter is a white and black field badge (Puschel). The front shield is supported by a silver metal band with rich ornamentation. This band supports a red cloth bag (head covering) that is supported by the back of the front shield. The red cloth bag has white cloth piping. A flat silver chinscale strap is mounted on M1894 side lugs. Inside the helmet is a flat tabbed leather headliner. The liner is in excellent shape. The wearers tag is sewn into the back of the headliner (see photo).
This helmet is 100% original and in excellent condition.
