Hello all.
Is this one all legit you think? :-k
I'm not so sure about the chinstrap and the blurry pics don't inspire confidence :-k
Are the Unit markings coherent/matching?

Hi Ron,

I am not sure whether the unit markings match the front plate. If I am correct AR27 RBA18 is stamped into the neck guard, which would correspond to artillery regiment 27 and reserve bekleidungs ambt of the 18th armee korps. Those two marks are consistent with each other. However, AR27 was a hessian regiment and, which does, therefore, not match the Prussian front plate. But perhaps I am wrong here and I agree the blurry pics don't provide much confidence.

Best regards,

Edwin

Edwin AR27 was a Prussian Artillery regiment and it belongs to B.A.XVIII Mainz,II.Wiesbaden so that is correct but i dont like the chinstrap looks a bit thick and there are 2 Prussian cokardes on it.

Thanks guys; always helpful.
I agree that the strap is most probably repro.
According to the seller, the kugel is NOT twist-off... An oddity? :-k

The seller don't know anything about helmets!!

He thinks that this is a colonial helmet.

Hey Doc, isn't this a pre-WW1 Reichsgendarme pickelhaube?
Officer spike, officer stars, officer spine, but then the liner seems like a Private Purchase EM's and the cockade he's not really showing looks wrong... :-k

Hi

Yes its a WW1 Reichsgendarme pickelhaube.

I asked for better photos but it was not possible!! :-k

What is the market value for an original one?

Doc

Unless I'm wrong, it looks like a parts helmet since the liner is an OR Private Purchase while the fittings--spike & stars mainly--are for Officers. I can't really tell for the wappen with these photos...

I recently paid $1,350 for a pristine prewar 1895 OR model from Age Of Kings: see here.

Thanks Doc! It's quite a pristine piece and the price wasn't so bad either :)

I would only consider exchanging it for a colonial headpiece (pickelhaube, tropenhelm or shako)... \:D/ as it's all about that nice Reichsadler!
