I likwe that problem is with shipping, import taxes it would like be about $2250 in the UK

Not if it is described as an antique, > 100 years old.
I agree with Bruno, and I would always get the seller to describe it as an antique ‘hat’, not ‘helmet’ when sending here to Great Britain. ‘ Helmet’ raises too many issues. If I remember correctly, Amy had that problem in Singapore?

I shall investigate this, its just I have been hammered in the past importing an 1863 Cavalry Sabre for my US Civil collection.

Hi Patrick

I hope all is good with you. Did you sell that Saxon Reservists Pickelhaube in the end?

Hi Nick,

Think you mean Prussian Reservist. Yes, sold, and money converted into a British heavy cavalry helmet of the type you’ve seen. I’m enjoying your photographs. Did you get moved?
