Prussian Artillery Officer Pickelhaube???

Why is this haube qualified as a wartime officer model?
No rosettes on the chinscales, no stars on the ball base, etc...

That's what I thought too; an M15 NCO Artillery pickelhaube but don't the cockades seem to be of the Officer style (2 rings) instead of NCO which could indicate a helmet built from parts?

I see one ring on the cockades RON, example of a "feldwebel"?

Not M15. Look at the rear spine. Is anyone bothered by the liner?

I agree with Chas, that is unfortuantely a replaced liner. A shame, as otherwise that is a superb M1894 Feldartillerie. However, a replaced liner does not bother some people.

The liner does look fishy...
But what about the chinscales with 3 'rivets' towards the last scale on each side. Isn't that an M15 feature?

It is on an officer's M15 helmet, but on Mannschaften, it is just a standard chinscale. Look at my Dunkelblau helmets gallery. All the Mannschaften chinscale mounts have this feature for the M91 post.

Of note also the ball top unscrews which suggests a trichter Regt. I am suspicious of the liner as well for the following reasons. A helmet of this model with all brass fittings would have the typical black dyed liner. Secondly, the liner seems too puffy around the edges, it is not tight to the rim of the shell. This is why I always stitch my repro liners wet with water. I pull the liner tight as I stitch. They dry tight to the shell and do not have this rediculous look to them
